強震第2天，倒塌的維冠大樓鄰居楊姓女大學生仍驚魂未定，大樓裡「救命」的哭喊聲不斷回盪耳際，剛發生的當天凌晨因為水管爆裂，水淹進住家深及膝蓋，以為是「大海嘯」，一直聽到大樓傳來「救命」聲，自己卻無能為力，是最大的夢魘。
亞洲大學社工系一年級的楊女，爸爸帶全家人從桃園回台南老家，正當全家歡聚準備熱鬧過年之際，6日凌晨睡夢中，卻被一陣「從未聽過、無法形容、類似滋、滋的一連串怪異巨大聲響」驚醒，伴隨著天搖地動，阿公叫醒全家人快逃，水管爆裂，水噴出來馬上淹入家裡，深及膝蓋，阿公以為發生「大海嘯」。
楊女說，他們逃到屋外都嚇傻了，目睹僅一塊空地之隔的維冠大樓整棟撕裂，連續的轟然巨響「砰、砰、砰」傳來，目瞪口呆，無法置信，20多年的大樓竟然倒下來，「救命、快救我的孩子」等哭喊聲此起彼落。
楊女說，雖然地震已過，但根本無法睡覺，除了救災現場操作機具的聲音嘎天響，主要是驚魂未定，擔心還有餘震，而最可怕是的「救命、救命」的呼救聲不時環繞在耳畔，親睹災況慘重，而他們毫無辦法可以伸援手救人，只能一直打110、119求救又打不通，心，整個揪結在一起。
